JVC, Kenwood announce Oct. 1 merger

TOKYO, Japan - (From L to R) Hidetoshi Yoshida, an executive of Victor Co. of Japan Ltd., Victor President Kunihiko Sato, Kenwood Corp. Chairman Haruo Kawahara and Kenwood President Kazuo Shiohata join hands at a Tokyo hotel on May 12 after the two companies announced they will merge under a joint holding company called JVC Kenwood Holdings Inc. on Oct. 1, aiming to enhance their competitive edge in the consumer electronics market.
