Nukaga eyes double-digit sales tax in mid-2010s
TOKYO, Japan - Finance Minister Fukushiro Nukaga speaks in an interview with Kyodo News in Tokyo on July 11. He said he believes Japan's consumption tax rate should be raised in two or three stages from the current 5 percent to reach a double-digit level in the mid-2010s to finance ballooning social security costs to support aging baby boomers.
