Tokyo stocks plunge on persistent worries about global economy
TOKYO, Japan - An electronic board of a securities company in Tokyo's Nihonbashi district on Oct. 23 shows the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average losing 213.71 points to 8,460.98 at the close of the day's trading session as stocks continued to retreat on persistent worries about the global economy and the yen's sharp rise against the U.S. dollar and euro.
