BOJ likely to hold key rate steady at 0.1%

TOKYO, Japan - Bank of Japan Gov. Masaaki Shirakawa enters the central bank's headquarters in Tokyo on Jan. 22 to attend a BOJ policy meeting. The central bank is widely expected to hold its key interest rate steady at 0.1 percent after lowering the borrowing cost from 0.3 percent in December, while finalizing the details of its plans to purchase outright short-term corporate debts, designed to facilitate corporate financing amid an economic downturn and credit crunch.(Pool photo by Kyodo News)
