Yachi urges Japan to send civilians to Afghanistan
TOKYO, Japan - Former Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Shotaro Yachi speaks during an interview with Kyodo News. Yachi, who was appointed Jan. 20 as the government's special representative on key diplomatic issues, said that Japan should seriously consider sending civilians to Afghanistan to help its reconstruction, which U.S. President Barack Obama puts high emphasis on in the fight against terrorism.
