Court forcibly removes sacked hotel workers

TOKYO, Japan - Shards of glass lie scattered near a broken door in the Keihin Hotel in Tokyo's Minato Ward on Jan. 25. The glass door was smashed during a scuffle between people who had continued ''voluntarily working'' in the building after being sacked by the operator in October and Tokyo District Court enforcement officers attempting to evict them.

            TOKYO, Japan - Minoru Kariya, the son of one of the victims killed by members of AUM Shinrikyo, enters the Tokyo District Court on Jan. 21, 2014, to attend the trial of Makoto Hirata, a former senior member of the doomsday cult. Hirata is charged with involvement in the abduction and confinement of Kiyoshi Kariya, then 68, in February 1995 in conspiracy with AUM founder Shoko Asahara.
