Japan's Aono 2nd at World Cup snowboarding meet

CYPRESS MOUNTAIN, Canada - Newly crowned world champion Ryo Aono of Japan heads toward a second-place finish in the men's halfpipe final at a World Cup snowboarding meet in Cypress Mountain, Canada, on Feb. 14. Aono earned 44.8 points on his first run at the meet, doubling as a test event for the 2010 Vancouver Games, to finish behind Turin Olympic champion Shaun White of the United States, who prevailed with the best score of 47.3.
