BMW to launch hybrid in Japan in mid-2010

TOKYO, Japan - This photo shows a gasoline-electric hybrid car BMW Japan Corp. said Feb. 26 its German parent will launch in Japan for the first time in mid-2010. The 4.4-liter-engine hybrid, based on the remodeled 750i luxury sedan, is expected to compete with Toyota Motor Corp.'s enhanced Lexus hybrid lineup as well as a luxury hybrid that Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz division will put on sale in Japan this year.
