Seven & I starts new business year with fewer new hires

TOKYO, Japan - New recruits of Seven & I Holdings Co. do stretching exercise before an induction ceremony at a hotel in Tokyo on March 12. The number of new hires at the top Japanese retailer's 16 group firms, at 1,266, is off some 200 compared with a year ago.

The retailer hired 736 fresh recruits, 530 fewer than the previous year, amid the economic slump.
