Japanese version of 'My Fair Lady' reaches 1,000th milestone
TOKYO, Japan - Actress Mao Daichi staring as Eliza Doolittle takes a curtain call in the Japanese adaptation of the classic Broadway musical ''My Fair Lady'' in Tokyo on April 28. The play was performed for the 1,000th time in Tokyo the same day, reaching the milestone 46 years after its debut. The show, which had its Broadway premiere in 1956, was first performed in Japan in 1963 as the first-ever Broadway musical featuring an all-Japanese cast and the Japanese language.
