Japan appoints Tarui to ambassador in charge of Okinawa
TOKYO, Japan - The government appoints Sumio Tarui (file photo), 61, who served as ambassador to the Geneva-based U.N. Conference on Disarmament, as ambassador in charge of Okinawan affairs on June 9. Tarui served as ambassador at Japan's delegation to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva but was released from the post the same day.
