Nikkei rises to close above 10,000 for 1st time in 8 months

TOKYO, Japan - An electronic stock board at a securities company in Tokyo's Yaesu business district shows the benchmark Nikkei stock index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange closing the June 12 trading session above 10,000 for the first time since Oct. 7 last year.
