Women in bridal kimonos perform Shintoist ritual
MINAMIAIZU, Japan - About 30 women in traditional Japanese bridal attire march in the Shintoist Gion festival of Tajima, Fukushima Prefecture, July 23. According to a legend of Japan's indigenous religion, women in pure kimonos can conjure up gods from a local shrine and convince them to keep epidemics at bay.
