Koga reaches 50 backstroke final, Irie dumped out
ROME, Italy - Japan's Junya Koga swims in the semifinal of the 50 meters at the world championships in Rome on Aug. 1. The newly crowned men's 100-meter backstroke world champion qualified second fastest for the final of the 50 meters, touching in 24.29 seconds, 0.16 second faster than his own national record.
