Lanterns released as Hiroshima marks A-bomb anniversary

HIROSHIMA, Japan - Lanterns are released on the Motoyasu River on the evening of Aug. 6 in memory of the people who died as a result of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in World War II. In the background is the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome, ground zero when the bomb exploded over the city on Aug. 6, 1945.
