Prime Minister Aso in general election campaign
OYAMA, Japan - With Japanese national flags in their hands and wearing headbands that read ''victory,'' supporters of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party headed by Prime Minister Taro Aso listen to his stump speech in Oyama, Tochigi Prefecture, on Aug. 29, the last day of campaigning for the Aug. 30 House of Representatives election. Aso's LDP, which has held power almost without interruption for over 50 years, is struggling against the largest opposition Democratic Party of Japan, which polls show is likely to see a landslide win in the election.
