Japan conducts quake drills across the nation
KAWASAKI, Japan - Elementary school children learn how to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED) during an annual anti-earthquake drill in Kawasaki, south of Tokyo, on Sept. 1, the 86th anniversary of the 1923 killer quake. Sept. 1 is designated as National Disaster Prevention Day, the anniversary of the magnitude 7.9 Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 that devastated the Tokyo metropolitan area.
