Afghanistan urges Japan to continue refueling mission

NEW YORK, Japan - Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada (L) and his Afghan counterpart Rangin Dadfar Spanta shake hands before their talks on Sept. 25, 2009, on the sidelines of a conference in New York on an international treaty to ban nuclear tests. During the meeting, Spanta requested that Japan continue its refueling mission in the Indian Ocean in support of U.S.-led antiterrorism operations in Afghanistan, according to the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
