Opposition LDP picks Tanigaki as new leader
TOKYO, Japan - Former Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki receives applause from fellow lawmakers after being elected the main opposition Liberal Democratic Party's new president at LDP headquarters in Tokyo on Sept. 28, 2009. Tanigaki, 64, was elected the 24th LDP president, beating his two younger contenders.
