Gov't to provide firm backup for Japan Airlines

TOKYO, Japan - Transport minister Seiji Maehara speaks during a news conference at his ministry in Tokyo on Sept. 30, 2009. Maehara said the government will provide firm backup for struggling Japan Airlines Corp. to avert any serious cash shortage so ''excessive'' concern spreading about Japan's top air carrier will be allayed.
