U.S. envoy visits Okinawa peace park
NAHA, Japan - U.S. Ambassador to Japan John Roos (R) looks at the Cornerstone of Peace, a row of granite walls inscribed with the names of victims of the 1945 Battle of Okinawa, in the Peace Memorial Park in Itoman, Okinawa Prefecture, on Nov. 30, 2009. Roos visited the southernmost prefecture, the only inhabited area of Japan where ground battles took place during World War II, for the first time since assuming his post in August.
