Polar bear Peace turns 10, breaks record
TOBE, Japan - Peace, a polar bear in the Tobe Zoological Park of Ehime Prefecture, turned 10 years old on Dec. 2, 2009, at the zoo in southwestern Japan. Taken away from her mother at birth over fears that she may hurt the cub, and hand-raised by the zoo, the local celebrity has lived longer than any other hand-raised polar bear in Japan.
