Japanese painter Hirayama dies
HIROSHIMA, Japan - A shopper receives a newspaper Extra announcing the death of painter Ikuo Hirayama in his hometown Setoda in Onomichi city, Hiroshima Prefecture, on Dec. 2, 2009. Hirayama, a traditional-style Japanese painter known for his works with themes based on the Silk Road and Buddhism, died of a stroke the same day.
