Monks dust Buddhist statues at Toshodaiji
NARA, Japan - Monks carefully dust Buddhist statues using 5-meter-long sticks topped with thin strips of Japanese paper in the main hall of Toshodaiji, a Buddhist temple in Nara, on Dec. 15, 2009. Due to restoration work in the main hall, the annual cleaning of the Buddhist statues took place for the first time in 10 years.
