Anti-U.S. base candidate Inamine wins Nago mayoral election
NAGO, Japan - File photo taken in December 2009 shows the U.S. Marine Corps' Futemma Air Station in Ginowan, Okinawa Prefecture. Media projections showed that Susumu Inamine, who is opposed to the construction of a new U.S. base in the northern Okinawa city of Nago to relocate the Futemma facility, would win the Jan. 24, 2010, Nago mayoral race, making it unlikely that the small city would accept the relocation of the U.S. base.
