'Maiko' girls throw beans for luck at Kyoto shrine
KYOTO, Japan - Kimono-clad ''maiko'' (apprentice geisha) entertainers throw beans to the crowd at a ''setsubun'' festival at Yasaka Shrine in the ancient Japanese city of Kyoto on Feb. 2, 2010. At the ''setsubun'' festival which heralds the arrival of spring, the maiko called for the expulsion of evil and invited good fortune by scattering ''good luck'' beans to visitors.
