Georgian luger dies after training crash at Vancouver Games
WHISTLER, Canada - Luger Nodar Kumaritashvili of Georgia is seen during a pre-Olympic training session at Whistler Sliding Centre in Canada on Feb. 11, 2010, a day before his death hours before the Vancouver Games officially opened. The 21-year-old lost control of his sled at nearly 90 mph (145 kilometers per hour) during final training at the center, causing him to go over the rim of the track and hit a steel pole.
