China's defense budget to rise 7.5% in 2010

BEIJING, China - Li Zhaoxing, a spokesman for the annual session of the National People's Congress, speaks during a news conference in Beijing on March 4, 2010. China said it plans to increase military spending this year by 7.5 percent to 532.1 billion yuan ($77.94 billion), marking the first time in 22 years that the margin of growth in the defense budget will have fallen below double digits.
