Man wrongly convicted of 1990 murder acquitted

UTSUNOMIYA, Japan - Toshikazu Sugaya, who was acquitted by the Utsunomiya District Court over a 1990 murder case, acknowledges supporters as he leaves the court on March 26, 2010. The court acquitted Sugaya, who served 17 years in prison for the murder before being released following a new DNA test, in a retrial and apologized for its past ruling that convicted him based on a flawed DNA test and a false confession.
