Japanese cedar, believed to be 700 years old, felled at Eiheiji

FUKUI, Japan - Part of a Japanese cedar, believed to be 700 years old, lies on the ground at Eiheiji, the head temple of the Soto Sect of Zen Buddhism, in the town of Eiheiji, Fukui Prefecture, on April 30, 2010. According to the temple, the tree, which stood 45 meters high, was found to have snapped at a point 25 meters above ground on April 27 after strong winds in the area.
