Kan on pilgrimage
TOKYO, Japan - Naoto Kan poses for a photo in Muroto, Kochi Prefecture, in July 2004 during a pilgrimage of 88 Buddhist temples in the Shikoku area, western Japan. Kan, who was named prime minister on June 4, 2010, had a shaved head and made the pilgrimage after he stepped down as Democratic Party of Japan leader for failing to pay pension premiums.
