Nagoya sumo meet gets under way under specter of gambling ring
NAGOYA, Japan - Hiroshi Murayama (C), acting chief for suspended Japan Sumo Association Chairman Musashigawa, apologizes to fans for a gambling scandal rocking the national sport before the yokozuna (grand champion) performs the ''dohyo-iri'' ritual ceremony at Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium in Nagoya on July 11, 2010, the opening day of the 15-day Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament. High-ranking sumo wrestlers joined Murayama.
