Ruling on noise at U.S. base in Okinawa
NAHA, Japan - Activists demand the removal of U.S. military bases in Okinawa Prefecture near the Marine Corps' Camp Foster in Nakagusuku, Okinawa, on July 29, 2010. The Fukuoka District Court ordered the government to pay 369 million yen in damages to plaintiffs over noise caused by flights at the Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station in the prefecture the same day but rejected residents' demands for a halt to early morning and evening flights.
