Base opponents win majority in Nago assembly election
NAGO, Japan - Three successful candidates (L, front) in the Sept. 12, 2010, municipal assembly election in the Okinawa city of Nago celebrate with residents opposed to a Japan-U.S. plan to relocate a major U.S. Marine base from Okinawa's Ginowan to Nago on Sept. 13 in the Henoko district of the city. Candidates, including the three, opposed to the plan secured a majority in the election.
