Season's 1st ski slope opens in Japan

SUSONO, Japan - Skiers and snowboarders enjoy the opening of the first slope of the season at the foot of Mt. Fuji on Oct. 15, 2010. Some people took up the offer of free ski lift tickets for costumed visitors at Snow Town Yeti in Susono, Shizuoka Prefecture, and held a ''cosplay'' contest. An artificial snow machine system was used to cover the trail, allowing the slope to open despite warm weather.
