Prius sets sales record

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows Toyota Motor Corp.'s Prius gas-electric hybrid car. Industry data showed Jan. 11, 2011 that the vehicle sold 315,669 units in Japan in 2010, breaking the nation's annual sales record for a single model for the first time in 20 years. The previous record was 300,008 unit sales posted by Toyota's Corolla in 1990.

BMW Japan to release all-new Mini Cooper car in Japan

DaimlerChrysler delivers fuel-cell car to Tokyo Gas

TOKYO, Japan - Two officials from the Japan unit of DaimlerChrysler AG pose beside a fuel-cell-powered passenger car, the F-Cell, the company delivered to Tokyo Gas Co. in a ceremony in Tokyo on Dec. 4. This is the first time a fuel-cell vehicle was actually handed over to a customer. The German carmaker said it plans to deliver 60 F-Cell cars to other customers in Japan, the United States, Germany and Singapore over two years beginning this year.
