Ozawa spurns Kan's call to leave DPJ

TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Naoto Kan meets reporters at his office in Tokyo after holding a one-on-one meeting with former Democratic Party of Japan leader Ichiro Ozawa there on Feb. 10, 2011. Ozawa said he was urged by Kan to leave the ruling party following his indictment last week over a funds scandal. DPJ Secretary General Katsuya Okada said the same day that Ozawa had refused to do so voluntarily and that the party will begin the process of taking punitive action against him on Monday.
