Remains from Iwoto
TOKYO, Japan - Participants in a government sponsored ceremony on Feb. 15, 2011, at Chidorigafuchi National Cemetery in Tokyo offer prayers for Japanese soldiers who died on Iwoto Island in the closing days of World War II. In the ceremony, the remains of possibly 822 soldiers, discovered by a government team on the island in fiscal 2010, were handed over to the health ministry in charge of their management.
