New Shimoda conference
TOKYO, Japan - About 70 lawmakers, diplomats and intellectuals from Japan and the United States discuss how to strengthen the bilateral relationship at a Tokyo hotel on Feb. 22, 2011. The conference was held as a revival of the Shimoda Conference, a series of unofficial bilateral dialogues held between 1967 and 1994, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Japan Center for International Exchange, an independent nongovernmental organization that sponsors the event.
