Diet OKs 4 tril. yen extra budget for quake reconstruction

TOKYO, Japan - Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan attends a session of the House of Councillors in Tokyo on May 2, 2011. The Diet enacted a 4.02 trillion yen extra budget for fiscal 2011 the same day, the first in a series of large emergency spending packages to fund reconstruction after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, as the upper house approved the budget and related bills. The supplementary budget and related bills were approved by the more powerful House of Representatives on April 30.
