Law enacted to integrate management of 2 Osaka airports

TOKYO, Japan - File undated combination photo shows Itami airport (above), straddling northern Osaka and Hyogo prefectures, and Kansai International Airport (below) in Osaka Bay off the south of Osaka Prefecture. On May 17, 2011, Japan's parliament enacted a law to integrate the management of the two airports in the Osaka area to help repay the huge debts plaguing the Kansai airport and rebuild it as an international hub.

TEPCO decides on permanent shutdown of 2 Fukushima reactors

TOKYO, Japan - File photo taken in September 2013 shows the No. 5 reactor (L) and No. 6 reactor at Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s Fukushima Daiichi power plant in Fukushima Prefecture. The company decided at its board meeting on Dec. 18, 2013, to permanently shut down the two reactors that avoided meltdowns in the 2011 nuclear disaster.

They canceled a scheduled meeting with Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto on May 24, 2013, saying it is "worthless." Spring Airlines freezes business expansion plans in Japan
