Terrestrial TV digitalized in Japan
TOKYO, Japan - A TV screen at a communications ministry call center in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, shows a message stating that analog broadcasting ended at noon on July 24, 2011, while operators take calls from viewers regarding the transition to digital broadcasting. Japanese broadcasters completely digitalized terrestrial TV broadcasting, ending analog transmission after more than half a century except in areas hit hard by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
