U.S. military site returned to Okinawa

NAHA, Japan - Japanese Defense Ministry officials remove a sign banning entry to the Gimbaru Training Area of the U.S. Marine Corps in the town of Kin in Okinawa Prefecture on July 31, 2011. The United States returned the land to the town the same day after using it as a military training site for 54 years, in line with a 1996 bilateral accord.
