Sony to sell storage battery for offices, shops
TOKYO, Japan - Photo taken in Tokyo on Aug. 8, 2011, shows the ESSP-2000 lithium-ion storage battery that Sony Corp. will market in September 2011 for use mainly in company offices and retail stores, hoping to tap demand amid concern over electricity supply constraints following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. The battery can be charged via six power outlets at night when power demand is low and use the stored electricity during the day or as a backup in the event of a blackout, the company said the same day.
