Half year after disaster
ISHINOMAKI, Japan - People observe a moment's silence at a park in tsunami-hit Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, in front of an around 120-meter-long ''rainbow,'' made of about 18,000 handkerchiefs from around the country bearing messages of encouragement, at 2:46 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2011, the time when a magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck six months earlier, triggering a killer tsunami.
