Lanterns lit up in Tokyo to encourage disaster-hit areas

TOKYO, Japan - A total of 3,000 lanterns made of Japanese ''washi'' paper illuminate Tokyo's Roppongi district on Oct. 15, 2011, in support of reconstruction of the areas devastated by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Written on the lanterns were encouraging messages from across Japan and some 70 countries.
