New levee prevented total power loss at nuclear plant
TOKYO, Japan - File photo taken in October 2008 shows the Tokai Daini nuclear power plant run by Japan Atomic Power Co. in Ibaraki Prefecture. The plant managed to avoid a total power loss during the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami thanks to a levee the company was reconstructing voluntarily, sources familiar with the matter said Oct. 23, 2011.
