Ex-gov. Hashimoto wins Osaka mayoral election
OSAKA, Japan - Winners of the Osaka mayoral and gubernatorial elections, respectively, former Osaka Gov. Toru Hashimoto (front L) and political ally Ichiro Matsui, shake hands while celebrating their victories in the double election in Osaka on the night of Nov. 27, 2011. Matsui will fill the governor's post which Hashimoto vacated in order to run for mayor. Hashimoto scored a landslide victory over incumbent Kunio Hiramatsu in Japan's second-largest business center, winning support for his proposal to establish an Osaka metropolitan government with an administrative structure similar to Tokyo's.
