Japan's new radar satellite launched
TANEGASHIMA, Japan - An H-2A rocket carrying a new information-gathering satellite ascends in the air after being launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, on Dec. 12, 2011. The radar satellite successfully separated from the rocket into an orbit as planned, according to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
