City in Tottori rents out EV with comic paintings
YONAGO, Japan - The city government of Yonago in Tottori Prefecture began renting out to visitors for free an electric vehicle with comic paintings on its body on Jan. 31, 2012. The municipal government offers the use of the car, which has a painting of comic girls and 10 local tourist spots, to promote the 13th International Comic Artist Conference to be held in November 2012 in the prefecture. Such cars called ''itasha,'' typically with paintings of animation characters, are popular among some young Japanese.
